Joy of Pastels II   

This is a class for ongoing students of pastel painting or for the amateur artists in every medium. Explore a medium where color is pure and strong and missteps are easily corrected. Each student will work in his/her artistic style of choice while at the same time studying new pastel techniques that can capture motion, the sparkle of light, and mood. We will consider: What makes composition work? How important is the color of background paper? A few minutes in each class will be spent talking about pastels in history. This class will experiment with using different surfaces and explore using many methods of pastel painting.
