Miami's Interama: The Pan-American World's Fair That Never Was

For nearly five decades, Miami's civic leaders hoped to stage a grand world's fair that connected the countries and continents of the Western hemisphere. Organizers hoped the exposition - named "Interama" - would showcase the economic, social and cultural ties between North, Central and South America with Miami as the true "pan-American city." Before being cancelled in the 1990s, many high-profile architects, politicians, and entertainers signed on to the project. This lecture explores the history of a landmark event in Miami history that never came to fruition - yet symbolizes the Miami and Florida dream of the mid-20th century.
