The Men Who Built America

More than any other factor, modern America was shaped by those who took the phrase “The American Dream” literally and made the most of the opportunities that free enterprise and the lack of government intervention offered. Revered by some and reviled by others, their names are well known: John D. Rockefeller, Andrew Carnegie, Cornelius Vanderbilt, J.P. Morgan, Henry Ford and others. Were they Captains of Industry or Robber Barons? The truth lies somewhere in the middle. This class will explore their fascinating lives and careers as each contributed to shaping America as we know it today.
