Jack Kerouac, the novelist best remembered as the author of On the Road (1957) and as a pioneer of the Beat Generation, died in St Petersburg in 1969 at the age of 47. Ken Burchenal, president of the Jack Kerouac House St Petersburg, Inc., will lead our tour of the house on 10th Avenue N where Kerouac last lived with his wife and mother. A former humanities professor who taught American literature and culture at USF and UT Austin for many years, our guide, Burchenal, will place the house in the context of Kerouac's life and work.
