Addressing the Social Determinants of Health

Social determinants of health (SDH) are non-medical factors that influence health outcomes. They are the conditions in which people are born, grow, work, live, and age, and the wider set of forces shaping daily life. Research has shown that social determinants can be more important than healthcare or lifestyle choices in influencing health. This course looks at why addressing SDH appropriately is fundamental for improving health and reducing longstanding inequities in health.
