Norman Silent Film Museum Virtual Tour

This course peeks inside the historic Norman Studios in Jacksonville, home to the only surviving studio complex from the era when Jacksonville was “The Winter Film Capital of the World.” From 1908-1917, 30 studios in Jacksonville made over 300 films, including the so-called “race films,” made for African American theaters and featuring stereotype-breaking roles for African American actors. This course explores that history and includes a virtual tour of the campus, including its new museum.
