Boca Ciega Bay and its Bridges

Often overshadowed by its more famous neighbor Tampa Bay, Boca Ciega Bay has been a lifeline for Pinellas residents for thousands of years. As the islands surrounding it were settled various bridges were built by some of the region's well known leaders. New islands were created that forever altered the ecosystem of the bay, and today it is the "front lawn" for many high rise condominiums. This lecture will dive into the history of Boca Ciega Bay, the bridges that span it, and the role it played in developing and promoting lower Pinellas.
