A History of the Barrier Islands in Pinellas County

The barrier islands of lower Pinellas County including Egmont Key have a little known but rich history about them. This includes homesteading, hotels, famous people who frequented them, a hermit, an Indian village near the beach, and many other events that have occurred. Egmont Key is rich in history which will be explored during the presentation, including its role in the trail of tears.
