Young Doolittle

If you've ever flown on an airplane, you owe a debt of gratitude to Jimmy Doolittle. That debt has nothing to do with his famous raid over Tokyo in 1942. While it made his name a household word, he already ranked as the most significant aviator of the 20th Century. When he took off from the deck of the Hornet, Doolittle held countless records, had won every major aviation trophy and achieved an impressive list of aviation firsts including the outside loop, cross-continental flight in under 24 hours and the first “blind” flight, relying totally on instruments from takeoff to landing. This class follows Doolittle from his youth, through his early career as a prize fighter and then as a pilot – surviving nearly 20 crash landings!
