SHARED INTEREST GROUPS (SIGs)   

About SIGS

Meet up with like-minded members and discuss common interests and passions. There is no instructor or formal presentation. Instead, there is a volunteer facilitator—a member just like you—who helps keep activities on track and engaging. Sound like fun? It is.

PARTICIPANTS IN A SIG:

  • Share a common interest with others in the group
  • Are current OLLI members
  • Respect others’ views and perspectives
  • Contact the SIG facilitator at ollisigs@eckerd.edu for general information about the group
  • Pay for whatever materials or expenses are required for group activities
  • Enroll through the published OLLI registration process for each section in order to receive updates and program details from the volunteer facilitator and/or OLLI office.

 

SIG GUEST (NONMEMBER) POLICY

Shared Interest Groups are designed with the active member in mind and many are limited in capacity. Therefore, a non-dues paying ‘guest’ may only register to attend one session of a SIG (if space is available). Guests must contact the OLLI office to register.

    If you enjoy nature walks and connecting with fellow OLLI members, join us as we explore the beautiful parks in Pinellas County. Schedules of parks will be sent out monthly.     Join other OLLI members at a variety of unique North/South Pinellas County restaurants. Participants order from the menu. Each member is responsible for his/her own meal cost and tip. Group size is limited, so register early.

    This Dine-Around will take place following the Jungle Prada Tour (registration is separate) and features a relaxed bar and grill offering burgers, pizzas, and wings.

    Once a month, members meet at an area museum to explore the arts together. Meeting times, locations and cost will vary by museum.

    Additional Notes:  Penny Lane Beatles Museum is the brainchild of a long-time Dunedin resident and humanitarian who considers the time is right to share his eclectic collection of Beatles memorabilia covering several decades from 1961. Visitors can explore the music, culture, and lore of the Fab Four. From Yellow Submarine paraphernalia to Beatles puppets and pins. Come check out the only permanent Beatles exhibit in the United States, currently displaying over 1000 pieces of memorabilia

    Join us on the fourth Sunday of the month for a fun and challenging game at the historic Hollander Hotel in downtown St. Petersburg. Hotel and street parking are available. Arrive between 5 and 5:30 p.m. for dinner or be there by 6:00 p.m. when the trivia begins.

    Register in advance, as we must reserve tables. OLLI is limited to two teams of eight players. If registration is full, reply to froehlichj@eckerd.edu to add your name to waiting list. If we have enough for another team, we will try to accommodate.
